    Cool TA 650 upgrade?

Was looking to change my Black '01 TA but tbh, i can't find anything else that i want!
I have standard bike atm, what good upgrades could i do to her to make better? I have tried touring screen, but get worse buffeting(am 6"1) so put standard back on! New exhaust? Different jets? Seat?...what is out there thats good!

    Thanks

Hey... could name you a bunch of things you could do.... but what do you want? Do you just want it to look good or do you want it to suit some special purpose?

and yes: you are absolutely right... the touring screen makes it worse for people over 6 feet.

    Re: TA 650 upgrade?

New can would be good, for ?better increase in bhp and sound, like the idea of better exhaust!....apart from that would like to know what else can make my TA better...is it worth getting different carb jets? braided brake hoses? new seat? new wheels?...???

I really just asking what ppl have done that has made their TA better!

    Thanks for help all

It's all down to what you want to spend. There are threads on the forum about all of these -

    Rebuilt seats

    Crash bars

    Re-jetting the carbs

    Removal of the exhaust sub-chamber

    Fitting HID headlight

    Replacing the stock silencer

    Fitting extra lights

The list goes on, and on, and on........

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

hi loads to do depends how deep your wallet and really what you want to do with it .IE no point getting it upgraded for off road and only using it on road

    but my thoughts are :

    africa queen engine bars.fairng protector.
    heated grips
pannier and top box and tank bag-touring
    nautilus horn
sat nav mount and electric socket
    brighter head light
reusable airfilter-k&n or piercross + smaller 125 jets

that should keep you busy for a while.

have you searched the transalp forum specifically for upgrades as their pages of info for looking on whats best and what each individual likes as we re all different

and if it aint brock dont fick it!!

exhausts are a personal thing and unless the old ones nackered which it shouldnt is it worth £500 for a full system for 4-5bhp

    Re: TA 650 upgrade?

Forget the new can. Except for less weight, better looks and better sounds it wont bring much improvement. If you want better bhp it needs a lot more than that. But that would be most likely a 4digit investment.

For your size I would recommend different seat (better knee angle + less hurting rear end), different handle bar including risers. And something which is always worth changing to is progressive front shocks.

new rear wheel size 18 gives more and better tyre options including better ridability.

braided brake hoses.... you can change it to those, if changing to risers and stuff, since the original ones will be too short anyhow. As far as increasing the brake power... I didnt really feel a difference to the situation before. Ok you feel the point where the brake grips better than before. But it doesnt increase the pressure (how could it)... just makes braking more exact.

and of course if you are doing all of that... dont forget the aluminum motor guard (if you call it that way...?) and the rear shock absorber exchanged to Öhlins, Wilbers, WhitePower or whatever....

what have I done to my alp (done to... is the right way to put it...)

    braided brake hose
    risers
    Renthal handle bar
    different seat
    progressive front shock
    rear raised 3cm
    crash bars
    "self made" screen
    hand protectors
    heated grips
    raised the front "mud" guard

I think that is about it.

Edith... forgot the new TT foot pegs

to make it look as good as all those upgrades will make it, don't forget a really horny looking paint job too

This is (was?) Wheeliebin's. Nice can and nice paint job.
