You can get it welded, especially if the split is on a seam.. if it's a very very small split then you could always PETSEAL the tank

    Re: Petrol Tank

Petseal won't work on a breather pipe has split inside the tank.

The best solution would be to take it to a specialist to have the old tube cut out and a new one brazed in. The tank will need to be purged of all vapour beforehand otherwise it will make a very large bang as soon as an oxy torch gets anywhere near it.

Might this be any help? Found it just now on ebay.
"HondaTransalp 650 Fuel Tank" - That's what I typed in, I'm not savvy enough to send the link.
    A silver one,"buy it now" for £79
Good luck, whichever way you solve the problem.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Sorry, meant to reply to this earlier. It's my age.........

It is very simple to post a link. All you have to do is highlight whatever is in the address bar of your browser (in Firefox just double click in the address bar), then right click and select copy. Then is the post your are working on. just right click and this time select paste.

    Simples.

    Re: Petrol Tank

DO NOT ON ANY ACCOUNT PUT THAT PETSEAL ****E IN YOUR TANK

it peels off again and causes more trouble than enough, i know been there and done it 3 times, use a POR15 kit from frost restorations
