    started 1st time

Early last November, we bought a 2nd car as last winter was a bit grim on bike.
I may have made the comment that we must be in for a mild winter and I will hardly use car.
Well, remember the rain in November- then I got involved in Cumbria Bridges Inspection and caught the flu - The frost and snow in December (still here)
Today, I decided to connect trickle charger to TA700.
I took of seat, expecting to see battery, it must be behind a side panel so I moved bike to door of garage and pressed starter,
Started 1st time, I let it run till warmed up, checked oil/lights/indicators etc.
It must be about 7/8 weeks since bike was started so I was well pleased.
I will probaly not now locate battery, as I suspect bike will only be used a little before March when I hope to change it for new Suzuki Gladius

    Re: started 1st time

Stephen, Im also in sunny Glasgow, Cumbernauld and also started my TA700 yesterday for 1st ime in 2 months to move it from under bike cover in driveway to garage in new house, i was fuly expecting to phone the AA as i have 2 year free cover with the bike but it started no problem. Im brand new to the biking world so thought i would join up here for advice and tips. I do a bit of racing on a road pushbike but hardly did any traiing last year as i passed my test and bought my TA so this year i need to ty andfind the balace as unfortunately i dont go up hills as easily as on the TA which usualy leads to a lonely 100 mile cycle back home on your own

Stephen, did you see Peter Henshaw's Month 8 report on his long Term Test Gladius, in Jan's M/c Sport & Leisure? Apart from lots of other praise, he reckons between 79-82MPG !! (he's done 10,000 miles on it so far) How do they do that?
What would you expect from a similarly Fuel Injected Alp?
If you do buy one, it seems a wise choice.
    All the best.

    Big Mac
our motorbike club meets at the Castlecary Hotel 2 times a month on a Tuesday evening.
I think the first meeting this year is Tues 12th but I do not think I can make this week. I will almost certainly be going to next one (about 2 weeks later)
you are more than welcome to come along, we generally have 1 Sunday run a month during the spring/summer/autumn.

There is no need to worry about being new to biking.
We once got pulled over at top of 'Rest and be thankfull' at a police check point.
I told the Police that they had just stopped the West of Scotland Chapter of Hell's Grandparents.

If you, or anyone else in area, want to come along one evening, let me know and I will confirm times etc.

As for the Gladius, it looks the part. I have not tested one but have driven SV650.
I will certainly drop a post on my experience.
I will also take the liberty to mention that I will likely trade in my TA700
It was reg. in June 08 and has just over 12,000 miles.
If anyone is looking for this type of m/c I will be happy to let them see it/try it - it will go for the trade-in price - I will not be greedy.

    Re: started 1st time

I have a '05 Alp and the winter 1, 2 & 3, I left the battery on and it always started after being left for 5-6 wks at a time. The last 2 years and especially this year I have taken battery off and charged before putting in the house. I am confident that it will start when the battery is put back on and the roads are less slippy.
