Crashbars OK but a bent gear lever

    Hi,

I have SW Motech crashbars and I have put my bike on it's left side very slow-mo at basically a standstill. The crashbars saved everything, but the gear lever is now nicely bent towards the engine

I will get it straight and now I consider a foldable lever (from Touratech), but I am not sure if it will help in case of such falls. Any other suggestions?

Save a few pennies and get a cr85 lever:

cr85 gear, Trials Motocross Bike Parts, CR, Used items at low prices on eBay.co.uk

They fit fine. I got an aluminium one because it'll bend before the gear selector shaft does. I can assure you they work

Breaking - breaking for spares. It's a used one. I'd get a new one for the same money.

Try The UK's biggest choice of motorcycle parts for Japanese and European machines. as they stock decent aftermarket alloy gear levers.

Darn, I did not know the phrase "breaking for spares". And I did not think of salvaging in this context.

No probs. Your English is better than my French, German or Luxembourgish

Re: Crashbars OK but a bent gear lever

Hi, I've just bought and installed one from Touratech.
Just like you i (slowly) dropped my 700 because I had forgotten to set out the side stand.
My crash bars did their job ,aldo the gear pedal was slightly bent.
Not that bad only each time the gear shaft also receives a kick and the foldable gear pedal should prevend that in the future.
Now i'am looking for a foldable break pedal (in case i drop the bike on the other side) ,TT has them for BMW's ,so far not for Honda's.

    Enjoy

    @GreyAlp

Yeah, it's a pity about foldable brake lever not being available for Honda.

As for the gear lever from Touratech - does the rubber from original fit on this one?

Re: Crashbars OK but a bent gear lever

Well i only did about a 100km with the foldable gear lever and no problems with either winter boots or riding shoes.

And yes you could remove the original rubber and fit it on the foldable gear lever ,its the same diameter.
Only the stick on the latter is shorter so you should cut off 1 cm of the rubber.

Thats what i"m going to do because the bolt and nut that holds the spring is (sometimes) the first thing your boot is touching when shiffting gears. With the rubber also on the stick it should make it ,not entirely but at least a bit more even.

    Enjoy
