    Let the fun begin

ok it finally looks like I managed to buy a transalp for the rebuild..... will pick it up next weekend. This is now the 4th attempt....

    93 PD 06 in purple/silver for 1600€. 42'kms.

And then I will completely take it apart... until I am standing in front of the naked frame.... with phone in one hand, flex in the otherone

Me: are you sure I can flex that off?
him: yes I am sure. Do it!
Me: maybe I should send you a picture of what I am about to flex off?
him: shut up and flex the bloody thing off! .....

End of the story will be... hopefully... White Power 50 extreme fork incl all thats needed for the front changes, new lighting and stuff, tyre etc.

Result should be aroung 175kg fully fueled....

All the fairing (right word?) will be replaced by 1,5mm Aluminum.... selfmade.. just as bashplate.

Rear will be delivered from an AT.

the electrics worry me a little bit... my knowledge on a scale 1-10 is about a -15 ....

dont have all the parts yet... but I gave myself a timeframe of up to 18 month to finish it. Lets see how long it will take me...

oh.... and just so you know... I have no clue what I am doing which is actually the reason for me to do it.

    Excellent stuff.

We will insist, of course, on photos of every stage of the project.

    Have fun.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

    Re: Let the fun begin

I finally brought Hector home. It will be pure blasphemy to take that beauty apart. It is in near mint condition....
Didnt take pictures yet, but will do so soon. After 800mls through not so beautiful weather in two days I am kinda tired. And in a minute my friend is gonna come by for the whisky night. so no time for piccies.

But for the guys from the sister board, honda-board.de . I spent the night at one of the 700er transalp drivers and stopped by at another ones place for a coffee on the way. So if you ever travel through Germany you might wanna check in there...

Fun part was: I was still on the road back when I received the first call that somebody wanted to buy all the plastic parts... I havent even posted them for sale yet . Somehow word travels fast.

    That'll be the internet.

Your bike sounds good. Perhaps too good to mess with! By the way, your english is very good. Better than some of my friend's. Mind you, they are from Sheffield!!

ps. I assume you are German and not a Brit living in Germany.

hmmmm hangover this morning although we just made it through seven bottles....

Thanks for the compliment and yes I am German. Thank God you cant read an accent... would be slightly American .

Anyhow, Hector is now in the garage. I froze my hands off on the way there and it was only 300m.

    again -5°C here again.

If I had ever considered driving a standard 600 transalp I would keep him the way he is, but that thing is definetely too small.

That's a very nice looking bike, it looks to be in fine condition. Just love that purple colour.
