Small note to add to the fitment of the tool tube - always remember to check your angle-of-dangle at least twice!
I'll explain - yesterday, when taking in the view from some forest roads, I encountered a slightly deeper than normal hole in the track. Nothing overly huge, but a bit bigger than the others I'd ridden through that afternoon. Anyway, this pothole produced a rather worry "crack" noise as we hit the bottom of the hole. I pulled over to see what was hanging off / broken, and found none of those things. What I did find was what I refer to as a witness mark on the alloy chain guard.
Yep, you guessed it - the plate the tool tube was mounted on was approx 2mm too far inboard, and when the rear shocker compressed a bit more than normal as I went through the pot hole, the two bits of metal came into contact with one another.
Needless to say the problem has been sorted with a bit of grunt and elbow grease, but note to self - dont just check the angle-of-dangle by eye, use a plumb line and look for "interference" points.
And no, I didn't take photo's of the mis-alignment - far too embarrassing!
Just thought I'd share the knowledge.
