In reply to Raven, Iam not sure what make the rack is, It's what the police must have fitted. The only modification I had to make was to make up a small steel plate with two holes in it to drop the bracket down by about 1.5cm. This was to clear the top inside rail of the pannier rack as it was touching. I have been out with panniers on and the RHS one doesnt even get warm, at least not in this weather. The picture shows the clearance, pannier to can is about 4cm, plenty I would have thought.

    re: Lacquer over decals.
A coat of decent, ideally 2-pack lacquer helps protect decals and looks good. Be careful that the decals are able to withstand the solvents in the lacquer and, carefully, "mist" spray a couple of "dry" or "dust" coats ( more air than product) on the decal area, and allow to dry before applying the build up coats of lacquer----you takes your chance!!
    Good luck.

    Thanks Dogwheel

I have refinished a couple of older Hondas (CB900F and 400/4) and the Honda original decals/logos etc have always been clear coated so I followed suite. I wonder why they put them on top on the Alp?

Possibly because the 650 Alp is really a Montesa, isn't it? Maybe the Spaniards do things that way.
Sorry to wander off-topic a bit,(more) but have you found out anything about price and availability of Decals?
    Salud!

    Re: Decals

can't remember exactly but Dave Silver quoted something like £95 for the full set, that is fairing and all of the warning labels on the frame and tank, the Rally/Touring labels are out of stock, NLA but I intended leaving those off anyway.
I expect that may be plus VAT and delivery though. You have to quote the colour code of the bike which left me in a bit of a mess as the label had been taken off mine, but piguglyshandydrinker on this forum helped me out with some codes.

    Re: Fuel Exhausts

Yeah, I am pleased with mine too, got it in the sale as well. There is a saying that a Yorkshireman is a Scot who has lost his generous nature. I am off the road at the mo' waiting for a new rear rim, mine was crumbling away. I suppose that's what you get for all the winter salt. Anyone got any tips on how to slow down the rot process on the rims?

    Thanks Jarl

I have some anticorit, which is great for cleaning things up but doesn't wear well. Haven't used ACF50 before, will get some.
