Scottoiler RMV and Lube Tube Positioning on TA700.

    Hi All,

Not sure if many of you TA700 riders have fitted this kit yet, but I have recently purchsed these items, now just need some advice on where to position the RMV unit and the extension 'Lube Tube'.

On my previous TA...650, I positioned the RMV under the seat, but as you know on the TA700 with ABS there is little room avalaible there

Any advice, suggetions, even photos, would be much aprreciated.

    Cheers

    VF600.

Have you had a look at the scottoiler web site - they provide details of fitment to most machines. Haven't looked myself for the 700 TA, but it's worth a look, as well as seeking info from the font of all knowledge that is XRV Land

    Hi Steve,

I did have a look at the Scottoiler website and they do have a suggestion on the RMV position for the TA700, however it is not an ideal place in my view. No real usefull info on the Lube Tube, just generic stuff.

Just thougth that maybe someone here has some better ideas that scottoiler themselves !!

    Cheers.

Re: Scottoiler RMV and Lube Tube Positioning on TA700.

My dealer installed mine and it seems to be in a spoton place.

Under the seat on the offside, mounted to the subframe just where the fairing leaves a gap if that makes sense. Theres a bolt there which connects the inner plastics/under cowl to the frame and this bolt holds the mounting for the main unit.

Originally they fed the tube down by the battery, across to the nearside and down along the breather pipe to the front sprocket.

Very tidy but dripping onto the chain didnt work as it went all over the exhaust box and burnt everytime I stopped at lights etc. Ideal wouldve been to continue the tube through the front spkt cover and dripping onto the actual sprocket but I couldnt be bothered doing this myself and it probably wouldve dripped onto the exhaust again anyway.

I fed the tube down behind the battery where there is a little peak hole/water drain that goes down to just above the white plastic rear hugger/shock protector. From here i fed it to the swingarm leaving a bit of slack and then along the bottom of the swing arm to the rear sprocket and chain guard as per normal fittings.

Now works a treat and ive fitted a lube tube which sits at the very back of the under seat where the top of the U-Lock would go.

I will try to get some pics tomorrow if the weather holds up.

    Hi Farky,

Many thanks for the information, I new someone would have a better position than Scottoiler

Any pictures would be much appreciated. I think I will give it a go tomorrow for the RMV, but hopefully, on Sunday, I will be going to the Excel Motorcycle Show.

    Cheers

Scottoiler does not recomend dripping onto the gearbox sprocket. I fitted mine (TA700 with ABS) off side under the seat and run the tubing along swing arm and then using stone guard screw and Scottoiler aluminium tube holder to drip at 5 o'clock rear sprocket position. Works fine. Easily adjusts as res is acessable. Vac take off from rubber vac tube between cyl heads. DD

Will post some images tomorrow or a video might be easier.

DaveD - It was the guy on the Scottoiler stand that recommended the front/drive sprocket to me as the neatest solution but you had to pierce the sprocket cover to do this and I didnt fancy it. The idea being that any excess oil is collected in here rather than on the rear rim and the back of the number plate etc. It is on their site for other models of bikes too but they didnt have a TA700 up at the time (last Jan 09).

I wouldve liked to do this but in the end I did pretty much what you did and I just live with the excess oil - this actually has saved my rear rim from rust and blistering like most peoples, or at least its assisted the lack of wear and tear from the weather.

Thats good to know. Last year around August time I think someone pasted a step by step guide to placing the drip on the front sprocket with photos without drilling cover. Sugguest we search for it as its a good description on how to do. Good luck. DD

    Another Scottoiler mod

I've just done this to my 650, dunno how different the 700 is. It's so much neater, no tubing running down the swingarm and the oil gets to where it's supposed to, the rollers.
