For those ever wanting to fit SW-motech bars, here's what I just learnt.

    1. there are no instructions just a single diagram
    2. mine arrived pre-scratched despite a mountain of packaging. Good of them to save me the bother of DIY scratching.
    3. They fit more or less. In my case I had to bend a bottom bracket a few mm to get it to go.
    4. you need to remove the bottom fairing before starting
    5. align the top bracket centrally before doing anything else as this bracket and its two 'U' bolts position the bars correctly on both sides. I didn't and found it tight on one side and a gap on the other and had to apply a little violence to sort it out. Getting this aligned properly also gets the other brackets into the correct places.
    6. You need a size 17 socket for one of the footrests. I have 16 and an 18 - of course.
    7. I am now looking forward to changing the oil filter even less.

I could pop down Thursday and show you haw to change an oil filter.
Believe me, you do not need all your fingers to do it.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

I went for a little ride today and popped in to see it.
The pictures do not do it justice.
The only telltale signs the bike is 13 years old is the rust on the exhaust.
The crashbars really do look like they were part of the original bikes design.
