Re: anyone got a spare back wheel?

Forgot to mention, the Dommie also has the same cush drive system as the Alp, and also the rear wheel has the same mounting points for the rear disk as the Alp, so it's just a stright swap of the wheel, with your sprocket and disk just being put onto the wheel, and then put it into your swingarm and Hey presto....

    Take a look at these:

HONDA DOMINATOR 650 NX650 WHEEL SET GOLD ANODISED PAIR on eBay (end time 14-Mar-10 17:25:42 GMT) (buy both then sell on the front one again, or if you decided to keep the front one you would need to purchase a front disk from a Africa Twin 750 to fit, as the Alp one won't fit..)

Can't find any others at the moment, but keep looking for wheels from any of the Alp, Dommie or Africa Twin range, as all should fit without any problems. You could also try ringing a few brakers yards to see if they have any...

Failing that, if you decide to go down the re-build route either of these could be usefull... Central Wheel Components Limited or Spoke Wheel Re-building and Truing - webBikeWorld

    Again, hope this helps you

On ebay they're generally listed as a special purchase along with hen's teeth.

If you search the threads you'll find that every six months the same question is asked and the answer never changes: it's a rebuild or buy a rim and spokes and do it yourself. Fairly dear, but an awful lot cheaper than having a compromise option fail at 70mph

    Good luck with the MOT.

The ones listed before were at the cheaper end of a buget, but there's always these (depending on your budget, but they are fully re-furbed, powder coated, inc. sprocket, disk, and all bearings new, which alone would set you back around £150...)
HONDA TRANSALP XLV 91-97 WHEEL SET REFURBISHED, BLACK on eBay (end time 07-Mar-10 09:36:31 GMT)

Although like pdsquire has said, and I can vouch for this when I was looking for a replacement for my wheels, to the extent one scrap yard I phoned said he had a pile of 'rocking horse sh*t' in the corner do I want that instead... although I was asking for a rear drum wheel not a disk. This lead me down the route of doing the rear end conversion from drum to disk, and initially thinking of gettin some Vara wheels for my bike, which in all account would have fit with a bit of tweeking... but the disk situation put me off this... untill after I had got the dommie wheels and spoke to my mate who owns a bike shop who said 'just phone EBC and they will find the right disk for you...' Doh... why didn't I find this out first... But that is always an option for you to go down... and can supply the Nop. for EBC for help with disks if you need it...

how about this for bad timing? an old mate of mine had a Dommi that he was breaking and until just before Christmas still had both wheels. he took them to the tip! bugger.
