anyone got a spare back wheel?

i have put this in the for sale/wanted section but will put it here for more exposure(ohh err!)
anyone got a good back wheel for sale? 600 or 650 TransAlp need one for mine as spokes are ripping out of the rear wheel and its MOT time at the end of the month.

worst case you could have mine for a couple of hours (your about an hour away) the only thing is I wouldn't want you ending up under a truck or in a hedge with a knackered rear a couple of weeks after the MoT
Let me know if nothing else turns up.

thanks for the offer but i really need to fix what i have or find another wheel. off to the classic show at Bath and West showground this weekend keeping fingers crossed i find something there. maybe some new rims at bargain price. i know people who can build wheels so thats not a prob. its just the expense that is the main prob. as always!

Pity your in need of a disc brake rear or otherwise I could have helped you out mate. Good luck with your search as good second ones are hard to find.

Re: anyone got a spare back wheel?

I've found that Dominator wheels are the same size as the TA, as I have just purchased from Ebay a set of dommie wheels to replace mine... and got them fairley cheap too.... about £50 for the rear wheel....
The only difference I found was that the rear disk is a 220mm diameter rather than the 240mm of the TA, but since you would have your old one, this shouldn't be a problem for you...

yes, looks like a rebuild is most likely. rimrot seems to kill Honda wheels now.

what year is your bike? mine is a 1998 just wondering if being Honda they will have made this swap impossible for later bikes?

Well my bike is a '88 Alp, but am in the process of doing a rear end conversion to put a disk brake on the rear instead of the drum... and have sourced a swing arm etc from a '93 Alp to go on the rear.

Looking at the dommie rear wheel it look near enough identical to the Alp wheel I have now apart from it being a disk instead of the drum. Rim is same size, same no of spokes, same size spindle etc etc...

From what I know the only modification made to the rear ends of the Alp was to change it from drum to disk, and then play about with the rear shock (all this from the Haynes manual...), and is no mention of any change to the swingarm dimensions or the wheels...

    Hope this helps.

yes! thanks for that gives me another option when looking for a s/h wheel.
starting to look more likely that i will end up respoking the wheel i have on the bike.
will see what the weekend brings.
