Headlamp Protector

I was just wondering if anyone has used a headlamp protector (plastic), from a company called evlplastics. I was searching for a headlamp guard whilst on the net but this was the only place I`ve managed to find one. Has anyone had dealings with this company !

never heard of them, but ive made my own before a lot cheaper than bought ones. (some work involved though, so its horses for courses)
get some clear perspex sheet an inch or so bigger than you want, heat it up until it gets a bit floppy then slap it on your headlights till it goes hard again. draw the exact shape you want with a felt tip, cover it in masking tape to avoid chipping then cut to shape with a fine metal blade in a jigsaw (with lots of water, dont let it heat up or you'll get a gooey mess which will then bind the blade and crack the plastic)
then off with the masking tape and finish/polish the edges to whatever standard you want. you can buy the little velcro dots that all the pros use to stick it on with.

if you get some decent thickness perspex like 1/4" or something you can do all those fancy but grossly expensive gizmos in the TT catalogue if you want.

Interesting idea ! How would you suggest the perspex be heated; paint stripper gun or something milder. obviously a welding torch is a tad overboard. Also what other uses are there for perspex on a bike ?

you want it even all over, i put it in the oven, over a curved glass dish and cranked it up a notch and kept an eye on it till it flopped over the dish. then ran outside with it before it cooled. you dont want it soft enough to leave fingerprints in, just bendy. thats why you cut it bigger than you want so you can grab it out of the oven with kitchen tongs. and clean the light on the bike, or you'll press flies into the plastic!
it takes some experimenting to get right.

other stuff-
if you look in the touratech catalogue they do some stuff made of perspex/acetate/whatever. screen extensions, handguard extensions, if you cut a peice of 1/4" thick stuff 6" long and 1/4" wide, and polish all the edges, so its a long thin square bar, if you drill the end and put a 5mm superbright LED into it it will light the whole bar up and light the whole tent for hours for hardly any battery power. i put a resistor in mine to take it up to 12v and a lead with croc clips on it so i have a small indestructable work light to keep under the seat.

I made my own extension for the scren the same way but used a hot air gun , took longer but had more controle but getting even heat distribution was hard , daves way is best if you have a mold to lay it over. bought my Perspex of ebay loads sellers and very cheap buy enough for 2 so you can always cock up the firtst or make 2 and sell one on here.

I have a headlight protector (TA 650), I think it's a Ventura one from the luggage people, looks ok & fits well.

I think you'd have a job trying to heat & bend one to fit the 650 's headlight.

As I`m struggling with fitting my Touring Scottoiler kit at the mo. I think I`ll go with the Ventura option. Plus I wont get any grief off the misses for misuse of the oven . Anything for an easy life.
