don't know if this is any help its taken from the 125 vara owners manual.

i've got a non honda lock and that don't fit either. i fit the "u" shaped bit in the fixings and stuff the lock bit in the main storage compartment
logical thinking results in logical conclusions

I've just remembered that won't work because you can't remove the key while its unlocked, and if the bar is 'locked' with the U section not in it, there isn't enough room in the moulding for the additional length of the U.

Does it have to have the key in it when stored?
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Had a Honda D Lock on my VFR and the U went in the mould, and the bar went longways down one side (locked so the key could be removed).

Thinking of getting one for my 700, but with the top box on I can never get the seat off that easily so prefer to keep my chain in the top box

If it is a Honda topbox then the carrier has a space for the D lock to fit for transport.

I've just spent 15 minutes looking everywhere and can't see the space

I'm on a '09 TA 700 with Honda colour matched topbox

The top box fitting plate for the 650 has the Ulock slot - the one for the 700 doesn't.

Shame - it was really convenient not having to take the seat off etc.

    Cheers,
    Mark

I've checked and you can't store the U-lock with the key in it, as there's not enough room to get the locking bar through the gap into the tail section with the key in it. Similarly, there doesn't seem to be enough room to get the key in and out of the bar once it's in it's storage place in the tail (which is the problem I started with!).

I know, You store it under the seat in the locked state then dismantle the bike to get it out.
