    Moitas E07 tyres?

    hi all,

read all the threads on tyres, looking for something thats okay off roads on gravel and dirt tracks for the inexperienced rider.

I know you all rate TKC`s but as the bikes used all year mainly on road whats the Mitas E07`s like in the wet . Especially on white lines as I have a habit of filtering on the motorwats and my Tourance are excellent but Offf road probably scary. I aint no Barry sheene either so dont spend much time banked over just need something that wont let go if the situation arrives.

And what are they like in winter? what with the colder temps etc. Or should I change back to Tourance for the winter and use Mitas the rest.

Aint worried about the price as you only have one life, jus twant something that does the job.

    cheers all

    Re: Moitas E07 tyres?

Hi Tramp,it's a good question.I have a TKC on the front of my Alp and an EO7 on the rear.I have only done a couple of hundred miles on them so far so my experience of them is a bit limited. The profile of the EO7 is a bit 'flat' and I find it feels a bit different on the road at first until you get used to it.
They seem OK on the easy byways that I go on but then I am captain slow.
I haven't used them in the wet yet so cannot say what that will be like.As long as they are OK in the wet I will leave them on for winter.
Hopefully the link will work, you can just see the tyres in the picture.

    cheers dave,

most offroad oriented tyres seem flat profile , something to do with not banking over on fast bends eh. Bit like the sports bike tyres of the 70/80 `s eh.

Remember the metzler me77 I had on me old Gs750, will give my local bike shop a call in the morninmg to see what he has in stock, the rear tourance is nearly new but the front is down to 2mm so might change the front first.

like the photo, I use a soft bag on the rear when on the trails and a topbox daily. Find a tank bag to restrictive.

    Russ

I have the Heidenau K60 Enduros on mine, which have a similar tread pattern to the EO7s

I had these on when you were up at Xmas and we did that ride. I have no grip problems and can crank the bike over much further than the TKCs

Cope much better off road than the road biased tyres

02 RD07a RWB, Powerbronze tall screen, Remus Grand Prix, TT crash bars, TT pannier frame, Zega style panniers, Alpos top box,TT bar risers, TT headlamp guard, Heated grips, mainstand, Heidenau K60s for road and light offroad, TKC80s for the dirty stuff, Scottoiler, Autocomm, TT Zumo mount, Zumo 550 and most of all A BIG GRIN !!! Oh, and a very nice RD04 HRC coloured Marathon Replica

    cheers paul,

wasnt sure what you used Had a quick look and they do both normal and snow/mud type. Suppose the snow type heat up quicker in low temps which would be good, I`ll email the suppliers and see what the difference is.

suppose using the Mitas up front with a tourance rear is asking for trouble, well could sell the tourance on fleabay to get some dosh back or keep for the continent.

what they like for fitting your self? and were do you buy yours.

For the Africa Twin they supply radial tubeless for the speed rating. These have stiff sidewalls and are hard to fit yourself

Not sure if they are different for the transalp

Had a set from moto tyres . com and bought my last ones through a local bike repair shop

Not cheap but they last well

    just an Update people,

got my wires crossed as usual I thought the Mitas 07 were the same as Heidenau.

Well teach me to pressume eh and look at pictures first, well the Mitas are more road oriented say 75/25 as against the K60 heidenau say 50/50.

So will be going for the K60`s now they do [2] type of compound , normal and "mud & snow" which have a higher silica content like Anakee`s over tourance. So better in the wet and lower temps than normal compound.

local tyre suppliers dont stock them but have them.
    moto-tyres.co.uk - Details: Heidenau K 60 M+S 110/80 B19 TL 59T

    price for front 90/90/21= £47.30
    rear 130/80/17= £65.10

    thats inc vat and delivered

BUT not fitted so will have to either fit myself or pay a litttle for the local guy to fit [saves the skinned knuckles and might need him in the future].

will get some and give a update as they wear out.

Think a lot of that would be manufacturers blurb Mitas are equal to K60 in the off road

I have the K60s on my 700. No complaints whatsoever. Good off road and tar. Long lasting and cheaper than TKC 80s. Next set will be K60s.
