I only ever took a bike in for it's first service, after that I have done my own servicing. I have never had a problem with warranty work, the sushi had a gasket blow after a thousand miles and it was done under warranty.
That is the only bike I have had that needed warranty work.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Its a gamble with warranty I know but I had no problems, and service history means bugger all to me! If you can possibly afford the time learn how to do it yourself and then know its done right.

Guess its always the same dilemma for most people who ride bikes do I do ex amount of work to pay the mechanic or do I attempt the job myself, and at the end of the day bike shops have to make a living its just that when you hear about someone paying good money and getting a crap job it makes you even more want to DIY it.

Going back to the snapped chain. some months ago I snapped the chain on my TA. It had done 16000, Scottoiler fitted and cleaned every month or so, but pulling away from a junction- mmm no drive. Oh look no chain. A link had snapped, not a pin, right through the centre of a link. Dont know what caused it. Fat-mal
