    Tyre pressures again.

After having BT 45's fitted to my 07 Transalp I had been riding with then set at 29 psi.It seemed ok.But looking through the threads on here it had been said by a few that it's best to have them set per tyre manufacturers. So I emailed Bridgestone and they quoted 35 psi front 36 psi back.I have reset the pressures and given it a try.It has improved low speed handling and at higher speeds seems unchanged. What have others found?

I have Avon Distanzia's and found that the tyre manufacturers pressures have a more noticeable effect on low speed handling, bike feels more planted.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: Tyre pressures again.

Using the tyre manufacturer's specified pressures for the bike is usually better than using the bike manufacturer's quoted pressures. The bike manufacturers pressures only apply to the original equipment tyres. While the pressure may be okay for a different tyre, different construction often requires different pressures. I found Bridgestone road tyres always operate best nearer the pressures Bridgestone specify.

OK now I'm worried. Metzler says that that Torances on a 700 should be 29 front and 41 Rear !!

    Anyone concur ?

41 in the rear is for 2-up

    Alan

Thanks but it doesn't mention that it's for two up. 41 would be standard for 2up so can I assume to use them as the Deathwings

Haven't logged in for ages and missed you lot, hope you have all had a great summer

I'd get back to them and query that asking for solo and pillion use pressures in that case.

Don't have these but my Dunlops are the same.

Doesn't seem wrong, just strange compared to oem deathwings.

I ran my BT45's at 41 and it greatly improved tyre wear on the rear and improved grip on front.

When I say 'wear' I'm relating to how the tyre didn't square off so much and handled better to the end of it's life because of this. No more miles, just better quality miles.

Misconception is to use manufacturer settings as they only count for the oem Tyres they've tested. All others need to go by the tyre manufacturer recommendations. Email disty for details usually.
2up settings DO NOT vary from the tyre Manu settings. Again a misconception taken from oem settings where they do change. Of course, you may have an independent tyre Manu that uses differing pressures for 2up but they will quote that if so. Again, ask the disty.
