I actually like them both, the first obviously lightened somewhat and the second good if you like night rally stages!!! Both very tidy bikes.

Look closely - the top bike (I likee) has had some serious work & quality mods done but not over done, if you know what I mean!
In fact, the more I look, the more it seems to be mostly AT with some Alp bits fitted.....
The second bike has been bourne from some one who drives a lot at night/Scandanavian winters, can't knock anyone for making something more real world practical

Yeah both look good to me, second one looks a bit heavy at the front but you will certainly see where you are going![]()
I'm not sure I like any of them, but as our (or rather Yours) beloved Africa Twins gets more and more expensive to buy, the early Transalp models could be a cheaper way to go, if the bike is to be altered anyway.
A Transalp de' light with high quality suspension could very well beat a standard AT in offroad/dirt/mud/desert driving situations.
Something like the first pictured above.
I feel sometimes that the Transalps are not getting the right credit for what they can do compared to the "creddy" AT.
Most people see them as nothing more then a capable commuter, or a beginners/learners bike.
I wish I had the skill, knowledge and money to build a stunning TA600 in the same style as Baja 1000 XR600R.
Or to take a new TA700 with ABS and Fuel injection and convert it into a bike that the AT could have developed into if Honda keept the AT model running.
