    Swing-arm & Linkage bearings

Just spent the day re-greasing s/arm & linkage bearings
So are Honda as tight with the grease on these components as they are with other items ?

Reason I ask is I've got a new chain & sprocket set to put on, ideal time to lube the rear end, but haven't got a centre stand .

Maybe it can wait until next time ?

It's a good idea to relube the rear end and linkages when changing chain and sprockets, you know that ! That's why Honda supply an endless chain.
At least you know if you do the job, it's lubed.
Yes, the factory is notorious in applying the minimum of grease. Easily witnessed by the minimal amount in the steering head bearings. You have relubed them haven't you ?
There's no good reason to put off the job, the bearings will last a lot longer. Especially if the bearings are washed clean of all the old stuff first.

    Amen.
My 01 650 failed MOT (annual safety test) at 15k for a notchy headset. Yep they were well packed alright....with road ****e.
Had to replace lower bearing (mucho hassle) but got away with the top set.
Attention then focused on her' rear (fnar fnar), again dry and required 'serious packing' (fnar fnar again).
