    Panniers

For this years tour I'm thinking of upgrading from soft to hard luggage. My Oxford throwovers fitted the 600 fine but not so good on the 650, plus they're not waterproof and the storm covers fill up with water from the rear wheel. Last year I used a topbox and a dry bag on the pillion seat which worked but dismounting was difficult.

I don't need much capacity and was looking at the small Givi boxes at 21ltrs a side but they don't do the tubular PL frames anymore.

Who's got what hard luggage and how wide is it?

    Cheers.

Just sold my E21's on e-bay, found them too small and have gone back to throwovers.

They're approx 6 or 7ins wide (pair of trainers and a pair of jeans would fill one), but the lock and mount took up valuble space on the inside.
The bottom's are about as wide as the rear mudguard (see pic).

I was thinking about going upto E36's, but they fetch silly money on e-bay.
(bought my 21's for £75 new, sold on e-bay secondhand for £87)

Hi, Ive got Honda L45's which are 28cm deep (with the racks it makes the bike f'in wide, like 1m10 !) but you can ger loads of stuff in them. The problem is that you get so much stuff in them that the front of the bike ends up being ocver light, so they could do with being a little smaller and paired with a tank bag.

    See ya, Moon.

I'm running the HappyTrails SU racks with Pelican boxes. This is a USA based company that ships allover the world. Great stuff. HD and powercoat finish.

I'm a big fan of Pelican cases. I even like them better than the AL ones (HappyTrails also sells the AL kind too).

Here's a photo of the setup:

Your pic comes through without the boxes fitted?!

If you want to sell those PL frames let me know.

Cheers for input. I've ordered the Givi 21 litre boxes & rack for £190. I travel really light so these will do the job.

    panniers

Looking at the same thing, but I have a Honda topbox already.
Did you order the Wingrack - you said they don't do the PL tubular anymore?
Can I fit the wingrack under the topbox?
    cheers
