probably answered before but im lazy
i do 70mph in 5th gear at 6000rpm, is that the usual?
how many km/miles do you get to a full tank (not mpg, actual miles on motorway driving)
thanks

oh yeah mine is a 600cc 1996 TA
Hi,
4 me : 6000 rpm, 5Th gear = 122 Km/h
a tank = 320 Km between 4.6 (if under 5200 rpm) and 6 L/100 Km (above 6000 rpm)
mine is a 650 cc
70mph=5250(ish) on my 650, not that that helps you much I suppose...
sory,correction !!!!!
6000 rpm = 132 Km/h
I can't remember what either of my 600 TA's did rpm wise at 70, but I think it was very close to 6000. I fitted a 16 tooth output sprocket on my last one, and I seem to remember the rpm was then 5400 at 70, but it took a lot off the acceleration. Oddly, I've just fitted a 15 tooth output sprocket to my AT, and that has raised the rpm at 70 to that same 5600, so it's closer to the TA final reduction (see http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1214).
On standard gearing, the most I ever got from either of my TAs was 180 miles - that was including reserve, but without actually running dry. To reserve it was normally 150 miles. This was normally at a fairly constant 80 mph. The raised gearing didn't make any noticeable difference to the TA in terms of MPG; I think both the TA and (especially) the AT are heavily influenced by wind resistance. Head winds and using a cut down screen affected MPG far more severely than any change in gearing. I hope that helps.

Hi,
Lord Stig ,
when you say that ""Head winds and using a cut down screen affected MPG far more severely " do you mean that for a lower gasoline consumption it's better to use a high screen and not the original short one ???
many thanks
Strangely enough, that's what I found. Obviously I have an unaerodynamic upper torso....
Best was with the standard screen with a Super Tenere screen bolted to in with tap washers between it and the standard screen to create an air slot. Worst was an Ermax extended screen cut down to within an inch of its life. The extended screen was pretty quiet, but the shorter one was quieter, so I preferred that except for the poorer MPG (down to 130 miles to reserve on a few occasions).

Thanks !
thanks guys, i was just wondering about it (i had a worry that my ta was underpowered and eating petrol) but im glad to see it seems to be the normal
