    Scottoiler

Having just got back from 2,500 miles in France and Spain the one thing that really played it's part in the journey was the Scottoiler. I bought the touring version that has a resevoir behind the number plate, and it was only down by half when I got home. Basically you can forget about the chain... I tried to adjust mine before setting off and having done about 3000 miles since I installed the Scottoiler and there was no need! Definitely recommend fitting one!

    Cool!

How'd you find the 'alp for the long haul? did you have a pillion, or was it just you and some luggage?

How was the TA? Brilliant! Very comfortable, economical and enough power but a bit more wouldn't have come amiss. Quite happily did 500+miles a day when necessary. I was on me own this time as the lads were still in school and it was a now or never thing - Shane , my eldest would've loved it.... next time! Him and me did the trip to Belfast in March - about 300miles, again no hassle. Still need to have a blast on me mates AT though, just to reassure myself that I've got the right one!!! By the way saw loads of TAs and ATs in France and in the Pyrenees... well worth a visit!

    Cool.

Me and my lass are talking about heading that way for a holiday next year, but I've not really tried the 'alp for serious miles; the longest trip I've done on her is from Belfast to Galway and that was only one up.

Go ferrit! You must need a break from Bedford .... no, I think it's a great bike for touring and I'm sure you'd like the roads. Rod Gibson in Motorcycle Mechanics was raving about the French roads in the latest edition, also the lack of speed cameras. My mate went over on his SP1 earlier this year and was belting along the Autoroute when he got pulled by two bike cops on Beemers.... they just wanted to have a look at the bike! and then escorted him for the next while. Not quite the same as England and DEFINITELY not like Ireland! As Mr Gibson said 'I'm going to do a lot more biking outside the UK from now on....' sounds good to me....
