Will these tyres fit my 03 TA?

Just done one of those tyre fitment things on the dunlop internet site and they have recommended a tyre for my TA that isn't quite the size that it should be.

My current rear tyre size is 120/90-17. Dunlop suggests that a D607 will fit but the size of the D607 is 130/80-17.

I'm still unsure of what the numbers represent.

Is this size difference gonna be a problem, could the tyre pop off when riding? Do i need to stick religiously to the size that Honda says? Also, any explanation of these sizing numbers would be helpful.

    Cheers for any help.

130 is the width in mm
80 is the height which is 80% of the width
17 is the size of your rim in inches

Does this mean that as long as the rim size is the same, then there shouldn't be a problem?

    Cheers

It should fit your rim. The tire is 10mm wider than your current tire. Shouldn't be a big problem. Steering will change, wider is not always better.

Dunlop says its for a TA so it should fit. They know what they are doing i figure.

    120x 90% = 108 mm high
    130x 80% = 104 mm high

So 130 is slightly wider and a bit lower

130/80-17's aren't uncommon on 'alps - that's what I've got and I've even heard of folk putting 140 section tyres on.

    Hello all
My Deathwings have done 3200 miles and are down to about 6mm in the middle. - Is this normal? - I think I'll have to change them soon.

I watched the tyre poll a couple of times and concluded that the Dunlops were the best overall score - but now the Metzelers have a perfect 10 in each category? Whats going on?

So, for Transalps only, which are the best tyres? I'm interested in wet and dry road grip scores only - probably because of Deathwings experiences
On the Metzeler site the Enduro1's aren't the tyre listed for the alp?
    Cheers

Pure on road, I'd like to stay upright, on road, at all times if possible!
I think my confidence in the wet is damaged, and I'd like to regain it.
    Cheers

I wondered the same and came to the conclusion that that result is just one persons result who obviously loves them. I too had a look on their website but the buggers don't fit our wheels!!!

I've looked on every tyre website around and cannot find a true road tyre to fit my bike, you'd think someone would make them???
