insurance is low. fuel consumption is not brilliant but not bad either i get about 100 miles to a tenner. i run metzler tourances which are £105 for a set, fitted! servicing is every 4000 miles which shouldnt be that expensive because its a fairly old engine design and fairly basic ( i got 2 yrs free unlimited mileage servicing with my local dealer as standard!) the finish could in my opinion be better, however still a bloody good reliable, fun bike!

Cheap to run and easy to service yersel. Reliable, good handling if not exaclty exciting. I've had mine for 3 years or so now and there still isn't a bike on the market that tops her IMHO.

    I can't see running cost's being that much different from a CB500,

Don't listen to what Fatjohn say's, they may not be exciting as such (in a ball's out kinda way) but they are an absolute gas to ride in pretty much most conditions!

'Alps may not be the UK's best seller, but there is quite a few on the second hand market, look in the usual ad's, some younger bikes seem to have an unexpected ammount of wear and corrosion for "low miles", I'd avoid 'em.

I guess work out what you can afford/want to spend and see what's available in that price bracket, invariably a "bargain" will crop up at about £500 more!!!

A centre stand is extra, about £120 I think.

They don't have hazard lights and the mainstand is an expensive add-on.

mine's got hazard lights, i use them to thank truck drivers on motorway when i go to fast to take a hand off bars, TA is the best bike i ever owned, relaxed ride or aggressive it's up to you, bulletproof engine, clutch+gearbox not that good, i ve had it for 10 months now, did around 40.000 miles, never really broke down, survived one serious crash and countless spills, i'm servicing bike myself (and if i can do it, ANYONE can), parts aren't cheap but it's honda, what d'ya expect, higly recomended bike for everyone
