    Do I swap

I'm throwing myself at your mercy chaps,
    I need advice,
I have a 2004 Transalp which I got from a dealer cheap as an ex demonstrator, came with heated grips and full panniers. Love the bike and have had lots of fun on it. I got the Transalp because the wife found it a lot more comfortable that an Africa Twin which was what I was after at the time.
As usual with bikes as much as I love the bike and enjoy pissing my mates on sportsbikes off with the handling I am a little concerned with the lack of impact. (One to**er on a Varedaro even asked me if it was a baby one, took great delight at doing him up the inside at the next roundabout)
There is a black Africa Twin at a local dealer, been there for ages, 2001 with 12500 miles on it. Some Touratech goodies on it and very clean,
The question is do I spend £4395 on it (a swap hopefully)
I have always loved the Africa Twin and its presence, will I do the right thing swapping it for the Transalp.
    Please help,
    Cheers

The alps seems much lighter than the twin, but on the skye trip the twins had a longer tank range, its your call. I just love my Alp, but it is my first bike. Depends where you want to go.

stick to transalp man!! there's not much diffrence in power or handling/braking performance between these two, TA/AT is a ford transit of bike world really, only that one of them is pretending not to be, is it worth paying extra for a bike thats only slightly more powerfull and only slightly more capable off-road?? who cares about looks anyway! keep it real!

not ridden the AT but I love the transalp. Only thing i would sell my transalp for would be a brand new one and thats as long as it aint got black rims or them tappered exhausts.
Your call, the AT does have a lot of presence and ****loads of street cred but is it worth it?

Having dropped my TA a few times due to the high up weight and shortness of leg I'm going to stick with the TA. Apparantly the AT is even more top heavy and seat is even taller? Haven't yet had a ride on one, so that's just what I'm told... (BTW I have lowered the front and rear now and it's definitely better) ATs seem to be much pricier too.....

Hi, try an @ for yourself, it's the only way!

I'm now on my 3 1/2 Alp (with other bikes in between), love 'em to bit's, I kinda considered an @ before I bought the 650.

The reason I never tried a Twin was they don't have THAT much more power, have a more vibey motor, weigh quite a bit more and are a taller seat that aint too comfy (apparantly).

Also an @ is no longer in production.

They do have a certain 'COOL' about them that the Alp's don't.

Get a couple of test rides and give us your (honest!) opinion.
