    Sleeping bags

Can anyone recommend a decent sleeping bag (mainly for summer use). I tend to fidget like a bas***d during the night and hate the feeling of being cocooned. Also looking for a suitable bag for my wee one who is 4. Her and I are planning a camping trip in the next fortnight for a week so would appreciate any suggestions folks might have

    Cheers

    Re: Sleeping bags

If you don't need an all season one for cold nights - then I can heartily recommend the SnugPak TravelPak Traveller - weighs a measly 750g and packs down to 12cm x 14cm (you could almost keep it in your pocket.)

If you are travelling with your wife/partner then you can buy two with opposite zips which you can then zip together to make a double bag........oooooeeeerrrrrr

I like SnugPak stuff - it's a British company - and if the military recommend it - then it's good enough for me.........

    Re: Sleeping bags

there are plenty of XL sleeping bags about, (i have one, XL 3season vango, its very comfortable but the only problem is it packs very big) and a lot of manuacturers are starting to do serious stuff for the kids, proper bags not those sleepover actionman/barbie things you get from argos

    Re: Sleeping bags

I bought a AZTEC Swallow 300 XL in April for a trip round Scotland. It only cost £35.00 and is very roomy and warm.

The bag size is 90cm top - 60cm bottom and 245cm long and I am 5ft 11" and 44" chest. Most other bags are only 80cm at the top which I found a bit restrictive.

I have a really old Snugpack Softie Hawk or something but wanted something a little more accomodating to my growing girth and a recent onset of claustrophobia when camping. They do an expanda panel thing that zips into either side of the main bag zips that expands the bag by about 20cm. My old bag had a different zip but it didn't matter as I sent it off to them and they replaced the zip with one compatible with the expanda panel (or vice versa - I never worked out which). Took about a week and cost about a tenner. Great company. The expander panel makes the bag a lot cooler though but much much more comfortable.

    Re: Sleeping bags

Hi Austin, Being of the large build I go to the manufacture and ask them for a special build , My last sleeping bag is a Rab expedition goes down to proper cold, but asked to make the bag 6ft 6" 2/half foot wide for winter snow gear and they only charged me 10% more well worth it for a good sleep
