    European Breakdown cover

My broker was not really interested in offering me bike breakdown/recovery insurance cover, as the cost was potty. RAC is not much better AFAICT!

Who is offering the best cover for single or multi trips to Yurrup these days? Mature rider (HAH!), on a TA.

    Any recommendations much appreciated.

    Re: European Breakdown cover

    I took out a policy with : http://breakdown.insurancechoice.co.uk/

Though it was mainly for a trip to Scotland (which I needed to cancel originally but will be doing in the next week or so all going to plan). I'm not sure how good they are yet as I haven't needed to use them and there didn't seem to be much online about them in terms of reviews and opinions (though they do look fairly well established as a supplier for insurance companies and of the couple of reports I did find people seemed to be happy with them).

Their gold cover seems to stack up well to the competitors for european breakdown, particularly for the price, but you'd be best to read the whole policy to be sure it's exactly what you want ofcourse before rushing into it and check how much money it covers you for in each situation. Although I'm only planning scotland at the moment, if things go well I figured I might make it to europe as well at some point over the next year so I went with the gold cover (this has some extra benefits for the UK as well as offering European cover).

Where it does seem to lose to the AA/RAC is that it only covers the rider and their single vehicle, rather than any driver and any vehicle which I think some of the AA/RAC policies do. This wasn't an issue for me, but might be for other people.

Might be worth a look anyway.

My Footman James motorcycle insurance includes European breakdown cover.

Norwich Union used to as well (when I worked there, anyway).

Ta, I'll have a furtle tomorrow and see what they say. I am with NU with a Riders Policy, but there was no interest last year when I asked!

Well worth a look as you say. Their Gold Cover on me and the bike is cheaper than the RAC Euro cover as an add on to my existing RACcover and I can keep my RAC UK cover for any vehicle too!

Though looking at the Schedule from Insurance Choice, their Euro cover is as good if not better than the RAC! I can see me cancelling my RAC agreement here... I will give IC a call .

From 10 mins on the phone looking for WEuro breakdown cover.

10 days cover from RAC £57
Years RAC cover (vehicle NOT driver) £130

IC One yrs single vehicle breakdown £69

1 yr RAC through my NU Bike Insurance £55

All very similiar cover AFAICT, so will go with NU I guess when I have confirmation of the cover offered

I couldn't get a good deal on the bike from them, so went elsewhere in spite of several recommendations. Strange, as I though a 50yo rider with some NCB might appeal to them! Mind, it'd be the first thing that has found ME appealing....
