    limoges

    Hi all
I have just spent 2 hours on tinternet looking for a hotel in Limoges.
Would like to be in the city so we can eat drink and stagger back to the hotel. I have found a few biker hotels in the region but all are too far from city or in the middle of nowhere.

    Any help would be appreciated.

There is a Etap hotel near the station. This would be ok but not sure about the parking.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Rob.

Try IBIS they have a hotel in the centre, not tried this one, but all the other Ibis I have used have secure parking, Also try formula 1, they too have secure parking.

    Re: limoges

i agree with the others about the parking.
i use etap/F1s whenever i go to france and in my experience they are nearly always in industrial estates or retail parks, quite a way from town centres. thats never a problem though because theres almost always an efficient bus service nearby that takes you anywhere you want for a euro.

if you want to have a look at whats around limoges go onto garmin.com and look at city navigator 2008, there is a "try before you buy" program that lets you use the maps as a tryout, and ive used it to sneakily check stuff out before

    Hi,
Always use B&B hotels www.hotelbb.com in France, secure parking normally excellent brekkie and cheap/clean.
There are 2 near Limoges, check out the website.

    Re: limoges

    Hi.
Thanks for the replies. The Ibis is in a good spot but only on road parking. I will phone to double check.

The hotel B&B looks good. A bit out of town but will probaly book with them. Nice one. Thanks.

We are going to Limoges so we can visit Orador sur Glane. The village museum in memory of the attrocities carried out by the SS. It has been on my list of places to visit for ages.

Originally planned a two week trip to France including the alps then 4 days in Nice and back via Limoges. Due to the credit crunch this looks like being one week down to Limoges also taking in Rocamador and other places of interest.

    Thanks for your help.

    Rob.
PS. Anyone in Torbay or Plymouth got a MRA screen I could check out.

Another vote for seeing Oradur-sur-Glane, very memorable.
There's also a nice cafe just outside in the 'new' village and there is free locker storage for bike kit in the museum lobby.

Yes, Oradour should be seen once. I'm in no hurry to go back, though.

Yes, you really won't go far wrong with the B&B hotels, normally a good restaurant next door. Don;t know how many are travelling but if you have three, they do a mezzanine room that sleeps 3, 2 single beds and 1 double for around 45-60 euro for the room so good value. The breakfast is as much as you like type with egg bacon and pastries, cereals, coffee juices. etc etc

Went to Oradour this year, like someone above says, every one should see it (but once is enough...).

I had a TA with the MRA screen with a small deflector jobbie bolted to the top on my last TA which worked but is not as good as the tall screen on my new TA. It can deflect all the air with just a minor adjust to my riding pos.
