Right then, New Year - New Adventure! Three of us are off to Morocco in January, Two Tigers and my TA. I have done it before in a Landy. What I would like is your own "Top Ten" of gear to take or not !

As little as possible! Went earlier this year and was loaded with stuff I just didn't use. Usual tools and spares (all hidden under the side panels - there's loads of space!) but then I'd take just a few T shirts, disposable pants and socks from Primark, then I'd stock up on SD cards for the video camera. Don't forget the tour guides (they're very useful when coming in to town) and a good selection of maps. Apart from that - have a great time!
Take some Malborough Ciggies..... even if you don't smoke, the coppers out there can stop you for no reason and keep you hanging around for ages as I found out a few years ago, one thing that seems to make them forget whatever it was they were after in the 1st place was 20 of the red and whites!!
Have a great time.![]()

What route u taking? If u go down via motorway towards Casablanca be careful of the Police Speed Traps all around Rabat.
Do not take:
1. Too many clothes (Buy or wash when needed)
2. Too much cash (Plenty of ATMs in the bigger towns)
3. Tent (Lots of cheapish hotels, unless u plan to camp..it will be cold tho)
4. Spoilt Western Brat attitude (not neccessary)
5. Condoms (highly unlikely u will find a willing women)
6. Highway Code for Central Marakech(U will not find one as they do not exist)(A St. Cristopher should do)
7. Anything u do not need!!!!
Do take:
1. This for your Garmin if u have one. http://www.island-olaf.de/travel/marokko/gps.html
2. A fully serviced and checked-out bike
3. Passport and bike Docs.(obviously)
4. Essential spares and tools
5. Quality sleeping bag(In some hotels out in the sticks u may prefer to sleep on the bed as opposed to in it....plus u never Know if u will have to or want to sleep under the stars...weather permitting)
6. Diarrea tablets(less chance of dodgy guts in the winter months but still handy incase)
7. New rubber as getting decent tyres out there can be tricky/pricey
8. Water carrier.
9. An open mind and sense of ADVENTURE
Have a good one.I may be there myself in Jan. so i will keep an eye out for yous.
Take your camera and post loads of pics when you get back
A couple of weeks before you go pack everything you want to take and go for a bloody long ride, then unpack everything that is not dire necessity,
and carry
Personal First Aid kit
Bike First Aid kit
Wash Kit
Sleeping system (self-inflating mattress dossbag bivibag)
Underwear
as your going in a group one of you carry decent tyre levers, one of you a pump, the other a cooker and so on for emergencies carry a tent that is big enough for the 3 of you and split that down aswell
And a good papermap of where you are going and leave a rough route and timetable behind with someone. Regularly send by email, text or carrier pigeon your position and next stop
Have fun. I am envious
Wise words one and all, Thanks.
Gaffer tape and spare nuts and bolts - been twice on the bike and used these items both times.
Sensible boots, the soles came off my Thomas touring slippers after a day ploughing through sand. Gaffer tape held them together until Zagora - cobbler in the back streets fixed them for £1.50p.
Apologies for the long winded anecdotal rambling, its an age thing.
Have good trip.
