I agree with keithm1, however have a look at this location.

Inland from Arklow on the R752 through Avoca (where the TV programme Ballykisangle was set, but its still a good place) and you come to the Meetings where two rivers meet! We arrived there after crossing through the Wicklow Gap , droping down into the Meetings and carried on to Arklow as part of our journey.
The pictures are of the B and B which is above a bar (clean, comfortable and nice people). You eat breakfast looking down from the window overlooking the top floor balcony. They have live music there so no good for an early night. We stopped here one night on the way down to Kerry and two nights on the way back.
I have a cunning plan to canoe or kyak down the Avoca river, maybe this year.
We also located a campsite just south of Wicklow town on the coast road.

    Two Time Polka

When in the Cork area, check gigs listings, if you see the name 'Two Time Polka,' make straight for the venue where they are playing.
Buy Ray a pint of Murphy's and tell 'im yer man in Malta sent ya.
After, head west to the Mizen, then make your way up the west coast.
Watch out for sheep on the roads and pre and post milking time slicks of verrry slippery cow **** (bah ... dung, excrement, waste products).
Good Luck and love every minute of it.

I agree with you. I went to Ireland last August and if one hand all of Ireland is beautiful the west coast is really amazing. Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Kerry were my favourite and a must to see.

Hi again, I am keeping up with the thread. Starting to plan our next visit to Ireland and noting the advice you are getting from others.
We went to Kenmare from Avoca (The Meetings) last year and stopped three days. Again good bars with music (crowded). A good base, some fantastic mountain passes and views within comfortable distances. If you go to the Dingle peninsula, look for Inch beach. You can ride for ages down the sand along the shore. I was there in a car, had a good meal in the cafe/bar at the entrance to Inch beach. Rented a holiday cottage opposite the beach from from the proprieter.

The picture is of the Dunloe Pass (Gap of Dunloe) near Killarney on the west side of Lough Leane.

Killarney National Park is a must do - the ring of Kerry is beautiful,
Dingle is a great place, cross the conners pass - the best mountain pass!

If you can, visit Doolin and go for a drink in 'Gus O'Conners' - the best pub we found in over 2 weeks !!

We stayed in b&b's and hostels to keep the price down, met some great people along the way - not many bikers so everyone you do see tends to make a fuss !

This is the tread from when we went last August.
17 day Ireland trip - done!

If i can be of any more help then feel free to pm me.

    Hia Frad & Traveler,
Very please to read you are coming to Ireland, I hope you are made feel totally welcome by one and all and that you want to stay ( or at least come back ) I would know my way round the place pretty well, I am in the Crane business for about 25 years and have seen quite a bit of the country at this stage. So to throw in my tuppence...oooppps..Euros worth:
I understand that you dont want to clock up savage mileage per day, I am the very same when travelling with the other half. Especially if it's pinssig rain etc. However, +1 on what Keith advised..get away from this not as picturesque east side of Ireland. For example: Try Dunmore East ( south of Waterford ) for your first night. That aint too far and it's a pretty place. Day 2: Up to waterford and on to Cork via Youghal. Keep going, ( cities are cities) and head out to West Cork..perhaps night 2 in Clonakilty or Roscarberry and then Day 3: off you go! look at the map: make sure you take in the Glengarrif to Kenmare Road. Then out to Waterville, passing Carrantwohill the tallest mountain in Ireland on your right/ Cahirciveen / back round to Castlemaine..then you must go out round the Dingle Penninsula. YOU MUST: Take the Connor Pass back from Dingle itself. It's not on small maps, but it is signposted from Dingle and generally not passable in the winter, however it's a proper road. Perhaps stay in Dingle. Take a boat trip out to see Fungi, the Dolphin. Its a really great little place. ? I could go on forever!! If you need any info pm me and I'll do my best. I will give you more "must sees" and nothing is too far.
    Have a great time,
    Cead mile Failte,
    Chrisb
