Top Box Rack

As I seem to need every available place to hold luggage this is a Hepco and Becker rack to fit to the topbox.

Question is will it fit a Honda Top Box or is there another make that will ?

Cheers Guys and Gals

Re: Top Box Rack

Think the Honda boxes were made by Givi. So maybe a Givi rack would fit?

Alternatively, been toying with the idea of mounting a Rugged Roads rack extender on some spacers on the top box lid to achieve a similar effect.

I have also been informed that more luggage space might be required - no more chopping tent poles to make them fit in the top box.

Re: Top Box Rack

Found these two from Get geared .co.uk

Top ones massive tho think it might look a bit daft

Will check if the Honda is Givi or not it might say inside it

Cheers Mick

I think you need a Pan, not an 'alp!! Be careful not to get too much weight high and to the rear, the 'alp will soon start to get very light at the front end I found!

Must get the books in the post....!!

I fully agree, or at least contemplate a decent rear shock to go with the weight you want to carry.
As for the racks they look like they double up as grills for cooking

Re: Top Box Rack

If you're looking at strapping a drybag etc. to the top box you'd be better putting a layer of the spongey type netting anti slip mat material rather than drilling holes in a top box

The boxes are made by Givi for Honda and are not of the same standard as a Givi own brand. The rear rack, mounting plate and fit of the box will not take too much weight

A Baglux tank cover and Dzeta bag would be a better option

As the others have stated don't put too much weight on the back as the front end will go skywards so leave your make up bag at home !!

The other problem you want to try to avoid is the speed wobble the top boxes cause when your riding solo. If you put a rack on it you might be tempted to use it and have greater problems

See you Saturday

Re: Top Box Rack

all these racks need holes drilling in the box lid so any of them should fit, just pick one that is the best size and shape for what you want to put on it.

personally i think the topbox is tall enough as it is, especially on my varadero!
another solution is to put luggage tiedowns on the top of your panniers (on top as they sit on the bike, not on the bed! you do not need metal cases, ive done it to my oem honda set, just think about where you put them and bolt them on with a blob of silicon sealer to keep the case watertight) and anywhere else handy, like footrest hangers, numberplate bracket etc. we strap a sleeping bag on top of each pannier and it doesnt get in the way at all. also, i have comfortably carried my tent, minus poles, flopped across the tank and bungy netted down. it doesnt get in the way of me or the steering but of coarse it does help to have a tall bike like mine.

one of these days im going to lose an eye with a bungy, which is why, to half the risk, i make wifey help me pack. after all, i need both eyes to ride safely, she doesnt need two to watch soaps
