    Re: Insurance within EU

When you asked about insurance for export, they will have assumed you meant cover for some complicated export process.

All you need a standard insurance cover that enables you to ride in EU countries, which all policies issued within the EU must, by law, cover.

My understanding is that a standard UK policy would cover you to ride as far as Malta and then for about a month or two while you were there. Once there you can then insure it locally.

    Re: Insurance within EU

I have a relative in England who has suggested that I arrive in the UK and stay at his home, use his address as my English residence, thus enabling me to legitimately(?) purchase the appropriate insurance cover to facilitate my planned trip to Malta aboard the newly purchased motorcycle.

As you can imagine, undertaking a jaunt across the continent, I want my motorcycle insurance to be unquestionably valid.

So, in your opinion, if I were to arrive in the UK, apply for the relevant motorcycle insurance, using relatives UK address, would the resulting policy be 100% legal / valid?

Pedantic about being properly legally insured, I know, but have in the past suffered due to non-insured §*@!$.

    Dear Mr. ©,

We can offer you Third Party Liability insurance for your motorcycle with UK registration for the duration of 1 month at a premium of Euro 259,- incl policy charges.
Our insurance will no longer be valid if and when have obtained a Maltese registration. In that case you will have to arrange insurance in Malta.
