    Tour of France, April 2009

Due to a change in my work state (no longer freelance), I have a bit more money and a bit less time.

One result is the planned trip to Spain and back is now a bit shorter - in time and in distance and is almost all in France.

    Here's the new plan:

Saturday 18th April: Cross the channel (probably Calais) to Magny-en-Vexin
Sunday 19th April: Magny-en-Vexin to Ussel
Monday 20th April: Ussel to a little campsite I know just north of Carcassonne
Tuesday 21st April: Trip into the Pyrenees (Andorra and Spain?) and back
Wednesday 22nd April: Carcassonne to Aubenas via Millau
Thursday 23rd April: Aubenas to the Route Napoleon and up to Grenoble
Friday 24th April: Grenoble to Lyon, Moulins and Nevers somewhere
Saturday 25th April: Head north, round Paris
Sunday 26th April: Cross the channel again.

Distances: Between 200 and 300 miles each day

Speed: Slow-ish with plenty of photo stops.

    Accommodation: Camping most nights

Food: Cooking at the campsite most nights, one or two meals out, bread, cheese etc beside the road most lunchtimes.

If you're interested, let me know. There are three or four of us fairly committed so far.

Still hopeful, but still waiting on other people to make a decision.....

Which reminds me, I must get my tent out and check it over.

You will pass close to my house in Buis les Baronnies. You have to fit in the summit of Mont Ventoux on this trip. Stunning ride up if the road is open. If you have any problems in the region you can call me on 0475 28 3214. I speak the language, have tools etc and can possibly help out. I have a Tiger 955 2001 in the best colour.

Excellent, many thanks. I've never been up Ventoux. Will it be clear of snow at that time?

You've a silver Tiger like mine, then?

No not a silver Tiger it's the faster one in the most beautiful puke green colour, (roulette green). Ventoux may be open at the end of April, depends how early the thaw sets in this year. The region has had snow as late as the 17th of April in 2005. Have a good trip and don't forget to take the number with you.
