Down a bottle of fine in one go, then a beer chaser. So classy! Like father like son?

Re: A trip with the Royal Navy

OK ive been home a few days now so thought I would share a few shots with you.

This is HMS Argyll a type 23 Frigate, I was lucky enough to meet the ship in Gibraltar and had two days sightseeing up the rock and in the pubs.

We set sail on the Sunday night and steamed at 21 knots aound to the Atlantic.

We were given a demonstration of most of the ships firepower, GPMG, Minigun, 30 cal, and the big gun a 4.5" on the bow.

All fathers were allowed to fir the SA80s and the GPMG

We also had demonstrations of Man over Board techniques and Seaboat launches.

Best bit was the Helicopter a Lynx MK 3

I got the front seat next to our pilot who was female ( no jokes ) she was incredible over 2000 hrs flying time she was in the Army but transfeered to the Navy so she could keep flying respect she threw it around a bit the next shot is through the front screen whilst pointing directly down at the ship.............. awesome............

We got to go up to the crows nest, engine rooms, we saw the rudders moving there are even windows to see the props turning !!!!

they even let us helm for a while

    Yes thats the Wheel

The throttles are the buttons with lights on them !!!

We took 5 days to get back to home port of Devonport Plymouth, where my wife had come down to pick us up.

It was a great experience and a true privilidge to see first hand what our Navy does and is capeable of doing.

My son and I on the flight deck coming in to Plymouth.

    Cheers Frad

It was obviously a great trip.
Are you going to do it again if the chance arises?
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Cheers It was amazing Im sure it can be boring as hell for them at times but the whole comeraderie is incredible, they are all there for each other, considering they had been away from home for 9 weeks and then they had to put up with a bunch of tourists which slowed them down by 2 days so we could have a nice cruise, they are ALL very polite and well mannered, unlike the general youth of today.
