Riding boots...Magnum?

Anybody out there uses Magnum boots or any other alternative to very expensive proper riding boots please...?

I have had a pair of daytona for the last few years but a new pair in my size (13/14.....) would set me back over 165£.....

Any advise please please?

Re: Riding boots...Magnum?

I've got a pair of magnums and I wouldn't wear them on the bike. There's no ankle support or protection in them.

If by "Magnum" you mean the boots as issued to Police / Ambulance. There are various lengths available, if your going to use them get the longest ones. Personally - I don't like steel toecap boots on the bike , they lack feel.

Re: Riding boots...Magnum?

Weejack thanks for the advise. My problem is that with size 14 the only proper boots I tend to find are the very expensive ones and I tthought the Magnum as issued to police and services are good vaalue for money.
Will do a bit of shopping around and see what's out there
cheers

Re: Riding boots...Magnum?

I used to use Magnum boots for riding in they were fine.

Now got some british army pro boots, leather & gortex lined

Think they do them in the bigger sizes to.

Re: Riding boots...Magnum?

Altberg do boots similar to magnum at quite reasonable prices for what is effectively made to measure boots. I am pretty sure they don't charge extra for big sizes either.

Loads of people on here rave about them and they generally do well in magazine reviews. Service from the shop though can be a bit patchy though.
