Khyam Biker tent questions

Hi there,

A question for those among you who own a Khyam biker tent.

Just got mine in the post yesterday and set it up in the living room last night (it's not quite big enough, the living room that is!).

My it's big! It's a lot bigger than I expected it to be, but that's great!

My question is the following, the manual that comes with the tent is for several different tents, and it says something about having to seal the untaped seams.

Now there was no sealant included with the tent, which could mean:
1. I don't need to seal the seams, they're all sealed...
2. I do need to seal the seams, but the sealant isn't included...

Can anyone shine a light on the above?

Many thanks,

JB

Re: Khyam Biker tent questions

If you look at the seams on the inside of the tent you should see a slightly shiny area over the seam (like melted tape almost) This means it is sealed. If not take a trip down to your local maplins/blacks/other outdoor shop and ask for some sealant for tents you will get either a tape or a spray and its quite easy to do.

Hope it helps.

I had to do mine but that was a few years ago now. The sealant was in the spare parts bag, have you got a spare parts bag? It looks like one of those pritstick paper glue things.

Re: Khyam Biker tent questions

I did seal mine with a small pot with a built in brush, purely because it said to do so. I was a bit bemused to be told to do it for a new tent but, "hey ho" I thought! Happily, I have not used mine in a downpour.... yet!!

Re: Khyam Biker tent questions

Got an email back from Springfield Camping supplies (where I bought the tent). The recent Khyam Biker tents have all been sealed at the factory. They still include the instructions in the manual because at some point, you may have to reseal the seams depending on the wear...

Many thanks to all for your feedback, I'll be trying out my tent this evening at Jelly's...

If it's like my Khyam you'll need to add another groundsheet as the original is really thin. Poundland does a groundsheet.

Yes that's a very good point. I got the footprint ground sheet when I bought mine and it certainly helps to keep the tent nice and it when folded over it fits in the tent bag still.

Something to kneel on whilst packing away when camping in a quagmire too.
