    Travel Insurance

Just a little question, what companies do you use for holiday / travel insurance that provide cover for motorcycle tours.

Just looking for August and our trip down to Spain.

    Re: Travel Insurance

    Ahh! My first post...

Went to Spain (Picos de Europe) last year (Plymouth - Santander ferry) on our Bandit. Extended the Suzuki insurance to cover foreign travel (Express Insurance - they just wanted to know main destination and duration of trip). I also took out breakdown insurance with them.

I took out personal travel insurance with Flexi Cover Direct (I stated that it was a motorcycling holiday (£20 I think?). My girlfriend has insurance with her bank account which covers her.

We enjoyed it so much we are going again this year. Only the time off work is booked at the moment, still need to book ferry and accomodation.

This time we're going on a Varadero. Will sort out the insurance's when everythings booked.

Departing Chepstow on 23rd August, again we're doing Plymouth - Santander, overnight in Madrid (girlfriend doesn't want to do 600+ miles in one hit) then down to somewhere near Baza, Andaluthia for, maybe, 7 nights in a cave! and lots of exploring the country.

Then overnight in Madrid again and back up to Santander.

    Re: Travel Insurance

My bike insurance does not have European cover so I use this,

Breakdown Cover - European Breakdown Cover - Motorcycle Breakdown Cover

I,ve never had the misfortune to use it.
It's backed by AXA, so it cant be too bad.

    Rick.

    Oh, hello Percy.

    Sharri'

I used BUPA Travel Services (mainly because I do contract work for them and the nice ladies gave me a discount) when I went to Morocco last year.

The policy pretty much covered everything I was concerned about for Morocco, my main concern being what was deemed as "off-road" or "on-road". BUPA basically told me that if it was marked on a map as a road I was covered, so I took it that some of the piste sections WERE Roads, even though they didn't look that way!

It covered medi-vac, full repatriation, up to a million I think.

I seem to remember my annual policy (with a discount) was just over £50.

They're worth a call, just to check.

Thanks Bob I'll take a look at Bupa,

It's more the medi vac and repatriation that I would want, we have European breakdown cover and our insurance covers us to ride in Europe but it's the accident and medical cover that I need

    Re: Travel Insurance

I have annual travel cover for the family at about £55/annum (I think) which covers me while using a bike for travel. Off road may be a touch more tricky... That is with my business/household insurer, the NFU Mutual. I did twist an arm to get it to include bike travel mind!

Bike is with Carole Nash, purely for the big saving in overseas breakdown cover, you have to email or call them prior to a trip. Very easy indeed and came recommended by several folk here on xrv
