Africajim, don't be put off by misguided perceptions on what to expect over here around 12th July. Yes it is 'marching season' which for many is a holday and festivity time. Yes there are contentious parade routes but these are few and mainly within the major cities of Belfast and Derry. Marches take place in many other small towns and villages with no problems whatsoever.

By taking a route which mostly hugs the coast you will find great roads, scenery, hospitality and will avoid any potential issues (although I believe these have been overstated). I'd be happy to offer a route along the county down, antrim, derry coast and maybe even join you for a day's run out.

Again don't be put off by such expectations things have moved on considerably over here as I'm sure some other forums members could atest to.

PS I don't work for any tourist board organisation in case you thought I was giving the place a 'plug', I'm just being realistic.
