Trip to Germany - Help!

Hiya, I'm planning on bringing a friend of mine to Germany (Kaiserslautern) on the back of my transalp, to collect her new fazer! Anyway, having never done this kind of trip before i was hoping for some help with some advice -
1. What do i need to do before i go - to me and to the bike!
2. What i need to bring with me - feel free to be obvious as i haven;t a clue but i know i need money and clothes!!
3. What route would ye suggest - coming from Ireland so should i go ferry straight to France or go through Wales/England?
4. Anything else i need to know

Thanks in advance!

TB

Hi, Before you go make shore you have some sort of medical insurance & brakedown insurance is a good idea, allso check when your pasport runs out,
Make shore your tyres will last the trip ! and make shore you carry your licence both parts , logbook, mot, insurance its law in most of The E U,

As for what route to take its hard to say, I have just come back from LEIPZIG last night I just use my sat nav,

Good look
Ian.

We are thinking of taking a week to do the round trip, possibly out through France and back through England/Wales. Its not really a road trip, more of a function but if we can have a bit of fun on the way, no harm done! Basically my friend will want to get on her own bike as soon as possible but then we'll be taking out time. Bike seems to be in good nick (at least that what my friends have said) i don't know a huge amount about engines etc so ... but i only got it a week ago and it had a full service from the garage where i bought it then.

Re: Trip to Germany - Help!

A suggestion for an outward route that would a get you there fairly quick and give a decent mix of times on ferry / bike (assuming you coming from Galway) is Dublin / Holyhead Ferry ride to Hull (about 4 - 5 hrs) ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge / Rotterdam ride to Germany.

.. on what to take with you; a good travel tip when going anywhere is before you go to... lay all your clothes and money that you intend to take on the bed... then take half the clothes and twice the money
