Warning triangles in France

Just found this on the RAC web site
From 1 October 2008 it will be obligatory to carry in all vehicles a warning triangle and reflective jacket for use in case of a breakdown. Anyone found to not be complying with this requirement could be subject to a fine of 90 euros.

Anyone aware of this applying to bikes carrying a warning triangle as "vehicles" - and if there's a bike version out there

Iain

Phew! Just gave my two to my old man (you have to have two in Spain, I believe).

I was clearing out a big box of old car stuff, as we have not had a car for nearly three years now.

Gave him a spare bulb set and one of his brake light bulbs blew with perfect timing, enabling him to replace it with one I had given him.

Re: Warning triangles in France

reflective jackets must be accessible to the driver before leaving the vehicle, I:E not in the boot buried under the cases, they gotta be under the front seat glove box etc,

Re: Warning triangles in France

You have to have a reflective jacket - and this is each rider that is stopped on the side of the road. You must also carry a complete set of spare bulbs.

I don't think triangles apply to motorcycles.

Re: Warning triangles in France

You don't need a jacket on a bike only on four wheeled vehicles

I do not think they make one small enough to fit a bike.
Spare bulbs are a must as is a first aid kit.

The terminology carried in vehicles

motorcycles are not included

but you can buy warning triangles for bikes, they come as a helmet cover so can be stashed in a pocket then stretched over the lid with reflective stripes they cost a fiver but there is no legal requirement

Re: Warning triangles in France

that's a great idea, that I've not seen before. There's a couple of times in the past that would have been very useful....

Snaphappy - any info on suppliers...

cheers
Nick
