Come down the A39 from Bideford into Cornwall - otherwise known as the Atlantic Highway, a good swoopy road. When it joins the A30 you can make your way down to Mevagissey - a nice fishing harbour town. My favourite Cornish road is the B3306 that runs from St Ives to St Just, but this may be too far west for your route.

After Mevagissey it'd be worth popping down to Charlestown to the East, which is a small harbour with proper big 'pirate style' sailing ships that go all over the world sail training. The Eagle has landed was filmed there - the scene where Michael Caine lands in the Channel Isles and Donald Sutherland gets chucked out of the pub window.

Dartmoor is a worthwhile route, either via the A390 to Tavistock (pretty town) or the small clifftop road - B3247 through Downderry. All the roads crossing the moor are good - the B roads or the small lanes.

    Have fun.

Hi mate if your coming from Bideford come down ATLANTIC HIGHWAY THATS THE A39. It will take you all the way down to Newquay if you choose it's a good twisty road lots of twists and bends and different scenery. You could follow it all the way to Newquay then cut across to ST.Austell and MAvagissy is only a 2-3 miles south of of St.Austell. If you come down the main highway A30 you will probably get stuck in the bottleneck going over Bodmin moor although on a bike you can filter through it easy enough, but it's not as much fun as the Atlantic Highway. Also the A30 gets chock a block leading up to the weekend and Mondays and Tuesday with people going home, also when it's busy the police are **** hot on drivers on the A30, They also used an unmarked silver Saab estate 9-3 twin turbo, a Burgandy unmarked BMW M5 touring and a silver unmarked BMW M5 touring
