Sidi Canyon Goretex Motorcycle Touring Boots
Thinking of getting the above...not much choice in size 13 or 48 continental.....has anyone had any experience of them please..? or any other suggestions pls?
I don't have those particular boots, but they look quite similar to the BMW Savana/Oxtar Infinity/TCS Infinity and Hein Gericke Touareg boots.
All of those boots it seems from a thread at ADVRider are made by the same company and share basically the same design (if you do a search there there's a side by side comparison between the bmw and oxtar boots). They look similar in design to the sidi ones you're looking at too (though I'm guessing sidi make their own).
The Oxtar and TCS ones are exactly the same as Oxtar renamed themselves to TCS, but there was a period where there was old oxtar stock floating around and sold off at bargain prices, so they occasionally crop up on ebay and sell for a bit less (the people who bought boots from those batches probably paid around £90 for them so may set reserves lower and there may be less bidding on them).
They're like half way between a touring boot and a motorcross boot (more protection than a road boot but more comfortable than a motorcross boot apparently - though I've never had motorcross boots so can't compare myself - mine are comfy though).
I got a pair of the Oxtar Inifinity from ebay listed as used but 'mint' condition but with poor photos and not listed as 'infinity' but just oxtar boots, so decided to risk it won the auction, and when they turned up they were obviously new and unworn (I'm guessing someone bought the wrong size or something - there wasn't so much as a mark on the sole or anything and they still smelt brand new). I paid about £45 if I remember correctly (though I may have just been lucky).
I really like them though and they're probably well worth it even for their full price imho. A big difference to my old crappy road boots, and even though the ones I've got are probably a bit too small for me, they're still comfy and are wearing in nicely.
Perhaps they might be worth a look too if you're considering these sidi ones.
EDIT: Just found the link:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69649
They have a double buckle, rather than single, and the buckle on the sidi's looks stronger though. Not exactly the same now I look at them again but perhaps in the same ballpark. Also goretex.

Great help matte thank you. I am a bit worried aabout the sidi's as they seem fairly narrow fitting but will check smetthing out on ebay. Prices seem to be much more ressonable there. They have some Akiko aat leess than 60£.
I will keep an eye out...it is not easy to be a large 48!
From what I can gather the boots I mentioned are a bit wider than the sidis in general (not sure about that specific boot though) and seem to be a good fit for the larger sizes if that advrider thread is correct.
I do find mine a little narrow on one foot, but then it's probably because I'm a half size and should have bought the next size up (don't think there were half sizes available but they came up cheap on ebay with not much bidding so took my chance while they were there). They seem to be stretching fine though and getting more comfy every time I wear them so they'll probably come good and having them fit a bit tighter I'm guessing might protect me a little more.
If you're looking at the full on motorcross boots as well, they seem to be a bit cheaper (for some odd reason - I can't quite understand why as they seem to be more high tech and more complex designs to me), but from what I can gather as a general touring boot they're not so good as these as they're harder to walk around in off the bike, and the soles on some of them aren't so grippy (but then have the advantage of offering more protection).
Only what I've read though as I haven't had a pair of full-on motorcross boots yet myself. It might be worth considering when comparing prices though depending upon what you're wanting to use them for as the motorcross boots may turn out to be bit much and the sidis or these may be more suitable in some circumstances.
Good luck with your hunting anyway![]()

P.S. Just remembered that I'd bookmarked these while I was looking too:
PROBIKER Scout Touring Motorcycle Boots
Not sure how they compare to the other boots mentioned (guessing the sidis would be better) but they do look good too and very similar in design to the boots I mentioned. I would have probably ended up trying those myself if I hadn't found mine on ebay.
I really fancied a pair of altbergs, but couldn't bring myself to part with the money up front or wait for them (the advantage of those it seems is that as well as them being very well made, you can send them back to be refurbed and they seem to come back like new).

Have you thought about Altbergs? Made in Britain, custom fit options for the 'differently-sized', and a bloody good boot to boot! I've got a pair of Hoggs and they take any abuse the Scottish weather can throw at them and still come back for more - bloody comfy too!
Clicky linky thingy
You're welcome
I did thing of alt's but they are fairly expensive and would keep them as my last resort....the ones panrider found seem to be much cheaper.....thanks for the tip anyway and I will keep on looking.....for a clown as pan says....![]()
just reviving an old thread.....bought a pair of cheaper boots from Germany (with great help from Ash .... danke her Pan!!) and they were very good but not waterproof enough for the british weather...over a year down the line and need replacing already....this time I am thinking of taking a trip up to Altbergs' in Yorkshire to try some Hoggs on.....it's as good an excuse as any other to ride 4 or 500 miles in a day
anyone fancies a visit to the shop? Will not be going until probably beginning of August...
