    Euro Mini-Trip ADVICE REQUIRED Please

    Hello Folks!

OK, I'll keep this fairly short but specific.

In the past I've tended to zip through most of Europe in a rush to get from A to B as swiftly as possible.

My dilemma. In late August (ish) I will be having an 8 day mini-break with a friend, and want to see some of the best European sights.

We'll be travelling by car, looking to stay in budget hotels as well as camping, but maybe with 1 or 2 nights in somewhere special/luxurious or just in a stunning location.

    So, what do I need?

I'm looking for your recommendations, on places to visit and stay. I don't mind the drive, I don't mind which country, I'd just like to cram as many memories into 8 days as possible, hopefully without being at the wheel all day.

    Answers on a postcard please!...

    Cheers

    Bob

    Hmmm
    Lots of places out there
Stunning stretch i can recomend is between Koblenz and Mainz.Just follow the Rhine river. You could stay in a castle as some of them have B&BCut across to the Mosel river and drive up back to Koblenz.Timing is good as nearly every little Village has a Wine festival going at this time of the year
They call him "Ze Quiet one"

I recommend any members working for customs and excise scrutinise this feller closely upon re-entry into the country.

If you're travelling thru France there is a biker place (accepts car drivers if they are bikers!) at Motorcycle Tours France » by Motobreaks
It's an ideal place to stay for visiting Oradour-sur-Glane, the WW2 martyr Village. Just north west of Limoges (which is also an OK place to visit).

    Enjoy your tour.

I can definitely recommend visiting Oradour, made a massive impact.

Also, in France: Mont Saint Michel is located approximately one kilometre off the country's north coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. Beautiful place, get a guided tour as there is lots to see there...

Just make sure you check the tides, as the parking lot floods at spring tide, and that would put a damper on your good mood...

It can get very hot around those parts though, but absolutely stunning scenery, and renting a pedalo or kayak to paddle through the Gorge is great fun!

People, Thank you for the advice so far, it is greatly welcomed.

I have been checking the ride reports, and asking others for their advice, so every little idea has been a great help.

Please keep you ideas and experiences coming, and I promise that I will post a DRIVE report upon my return.

    Thank you
