Cornish Bed?

I have to take Sprog No. 1 down to Falmouth this Thursday so that she can have a look at the Exeter Uni off-site Campus at Penryn. It looks a nice bit of the world and I hope to spend a bit of time in Falmouth while Steff tours the skool!

B&B is a tad expensive from a google, especially if i have to do many of these trips, so I thought I would ask if anyone has any recommendations for a) Cheap, clean B&B with a twin room or b) Cheap, clean camping with a good shower facility!! We need to be within ten miles of Falmouth really.

email to here as I only pickup PM at the end of the day!

Sadly, Steff has vetoed a bike run and as it is pretty well all m'way, I agree, so it easy to carry camping kit with me in the car.... I have also told Steff it is good practice ready for her first Festival at Weston-S-Mare later in the month!

Cheers Merv, I had picked up on the Blue Hills after i posted and have mentioned it to Steff. "Will we see the beach", is her main concern! Oh to be 17 again....

Mapsource says 30 mins to the Uni, so do-able in the morning then I can bobble off for a day in Falmouth

There's a Premier Inn at Carnon Downs which is on the Truro - Falmouth road it is very easy to find and is about 4-5 miles from Penryn campus from the premier Inn you woulld be at the campus within 10mins easily. My wife's family are From Mawnam Smith and know the area very well as wife sister lives in Penryn but she does not have any spare rooms. The wife is at work at the moment but i have txt her to see if she knows anywhere else to try thats cheap. Unfortunatly Falmouth is a Tourist hotspot so nothing will be very cheap and we are now in the middle of the Holiday season

Blue hills will take more than half an hour to get to Penryn in the mornings. You would have to go back to Chiverton Cross then head through Truro
where you would pick up all commuter traffic coming in from all sides of Truro and then take the A39 to Falmouth. Depends though on what time you have to be at the college personally i would find something closer to where you have to be

Understood!! Thank you Jason, as someone whose idea of a long commute is having to walk across to the farm buildings, your advice is very much appreciated.

HAve you had any thoughts about where to stay yet?
I think the Premier Inn would be a good bet or the B&B on Treluswell roundabout

Thanks for the emails and all the recommendations in both email and on the forum, it is a real pleasure to get your help and support. The furtles around on the net has made a visit to Cornwall seem far more of a trip as opposed to a chore!

I reckon that I will pop the camping gear in the car and see what the weather looks like before we set off on Thursday am and go for the Premier Inn if we are likely to get wet!!

Sadly, the better B&B's near Penryn are booked up already, though I am sure we could find a farmhouse B&B on the road near Truro from the link I have.

Stay flexible, as my Bank manager says.....

Ta. It now looks as if the trip this week will have to be put back as Steff's school will not release her as she has "in-school duties" that she was supposed to be aware of. Something of a bummer from my point of view as I had sorted time off and a car etc.... Ahh well, the joy of having teenage daughters I guess! At least I will know what to expect next year with sprog No. 2!
