I'm doing a charity motorcycle ride from London to Morocco in September with a few mates from work and was wondering if anyone has some tips on where to go/what to avoid there as well as any other general travel tips for Morocco.
Cheers
Craig

Hey you
I'm good thanks. How are you all? Haven't seen you and Jay in ages.
Gutted I couldn't do TLD09. All ready to go and fell ill on the Sunday before - really knocked stuffing out of me.
Our charidee is Tomorrow's People - they help disadvantaged people get back into work. Last year we rode 17 European countries in 14 days and raised £30k. This year we're riding to Morocco baby and hope to rasie a similar amount!
On the way we will have to complete a number of challenges set by our sponsors in a Top Gear stylee! Stay 5 days in Morocco touring Atlas mountains and Sahara. Sounds v exciting and can't wait.
How's the BM? I'm tempted to get one myself....

Spookily enough did a 5 day round route in Morocco this April. Where in Wales are you at. I'm in Bridgend. Depending on your location call in and have a cuppa. I can show you some maps some GPS stuff and pic's give you some ideas. Failing that I can post a route here if you give me a bit of time.
Cheers, S
I only like down't road in Swansea!
It would be great to meet and chat about your trip. Let me know when it is convenient and we'll def meet up.

I went to Morocco last year in a group of 5 riders and loved every minute of it. Our best day actually turned out to be a two hour off-road trip into the mountains that lasted all day and saw us running out of fuel and water!!
My quick tips would be...
Check out Tim Cullis' excellent guide to Morocco on the UKGSER forum HERE
Fill out your immigration and import forms (I think) online before you leave HERE
Take in the roads and mountain town of Ronda when on route to the Spanish port
Avoid Tangier port and aim to travel from Algeciras into Ceuta (Less hassley apparently)
Completely avoid the Rif mountain area, but if you must visit it, do it on your last day on the way home. It could completely ruin your vision of Maroc!
Jeff Kirby (of this forum) who did all our pre-planning used a Rough Guide and I took a Lonely Planet and the hotel references still seem to apply quite well.
If you are riding in the heat of the day, take plenty of water when you set out.
If you get as far as Erg Chebbi, make sure you stay atleast one night in Auberge Du Sud (although I'm sure there are other similar places) and make sure you are up for sunset AND especially SUNRISE. HERE
Have a great time
