    Algeria

    Hi
Has anyone ridden through Algeria? Is there anyone on the forum from Algeria? I am in the very very early stages of planning a trip (if I ever get the time and money, but hey dreaming is a good part of any trip).

I am thinking of riding around the "pond"! OK so some call it the Med! So Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Ageria, Tunisia - then a cheat - Sicily, Italy Sardinia Corsica France Spain and home.

Any info appreciated as I belive the border between Morocco and Algeria is closed.

    Cheers

I also understand the border is closed but I'm afraid I can't help you any more than that. This forum might have more info if you haven't seen it already...

Sounds like a brilliant trip, best of luck

The border between Morocco and Algeria is closed, has been for years and wont be open anytime soon - Sorry !

You also have to use armed escorts in Algeria as a rule, you can ride in Algeria if you really want to, and the better bits of the Sahara etc are to be found there but its not the easiest place to get or ride through

    Re: Algeria

I went to Tunisia recently (not on the bike) but had a tour around the whole country and the guide we had said that relations between Algeria and Tunisia were good and so was true of Lybia and that they were completing a road along the coast that links then all up.

I believe that you can ferry from Alicante or near in Spain and get accss to Algeria and yes you have to have a "guide"

Its a shame the Morocco border is closed - perhapsI will have to singlehandedly persuade them to open it !!! ha ha

the Travel Section - How very dare they

You can forget about the Tunisia across to Morocco route Angelo, although you might have heard of someone that knows someones dads friends uncles sisters brother that has done it.

It is not Legally possible and therefore is not IMO a viable option. Have you been to Morocco, if so you will know the paperwork involved in getting you and your bike imported into the country.

They are NOT going to let you leave if you sneaked over the border from Algeria.

Southern Morocco back up to Nador, then ferry over to Sete and up through France is another option, not ideal but an option

    Re: Algeria

OK looks like I wont be able to go next year but perhaps in the future. BUT I think there is a way. So it goes - France - Italy - Corsica - Sardinia - Italy - Sicily - Tunisia (All OK so far the Corisca Sardinia bits are well because they are there!) - Ride across top of Tunsia into Algeria - Border open - ride to about 200 miles from Morrocan border and ferry over to Alicante - ride to Almera and ferry back down to Morroco near the Algerian border (all this is possible but costly henec no trip!) ride north coast of Morroco - ferry to Spain - ride home.

There you are a "Round the Pond Trip"!!!

Let me know if anyone of you do it.
