at first glance it looks expensive but when you see it's half board and a feast each time it is good value. I have been there for the past 2years and may go back again for a third year this year

We are going to the Alps too this summer last 2 weeks in July a friend has offered us the use of their Apartment in Arcs 1950 just up from Bourg Saint Maurice.

Was looking at getting there quickly then taking a couple of days to get back up through Germany etc

From Shropshire, I took 3 days to get to N.Italy with a mix of A/B class roads through France/Lux/Germ/Austria as well as some motorway to get the miles in.... Coming back from Bolzano, partially with Haynesmail, I had 2 nights camping and then ran for the ferry to catch a late PM crossing to get me in Lunnun for a night with my Sis. Do not overestimate the distances you can travel!

Well, you should be quiet on the building front at the moment!

Well we were coz apparently it is too cold for the Building Inspector to leave his warm office !!! so he cant come and inspect our excavated footings

However the phone is hot with all the damage from burst pipes

And now we have work till about May

Wot a surprise!! Cannot be as bad as the Planning Officer who was apparently unable to read the plans we sent him about 3 weeks ago who thought that the 12m X 4.5m side we are putting up using permitted development was a 3m rear extension that needed permission.. Geez, how much do these people earn???

There IS a silver lining in the snow clouds then... However, I am dreading the final thaw out, as I suspect I will have a couple of split galvanised pipes that will be a bummer to fix.
