Re: Bungee Straps and such like

I bought a couple of them link straps in Boris's 1st post at the NRC bike show. Got a show special price reduced a bit too. I think it was 4 straps for 12£. But I haven't used them yet so can't comment yet but did watch a guy strapping luggage down while on the ferry and was well impressed - which is what prompted the purchase.

I link the idea of of the loop above the loop. I like to strap a small bag with waterproofs in on top of my big dry bag and that seems like the way to do it.

IIRC there's some videos on Utube about these. In fact I think it was link from here that got my first interest in them

i have some adjustable bungees with big plastic hooks from HG, they are good because you can put them on, link them together if need be, and then tighten them up with everything in place on the bike so you dont crush anything.
to be honest i only use them when camping for the tent and chair across the pillion seat, so they only go from the grab handle to the back of the luggage rack to hold the ortleib bag against the topbox.

gunslip- sew plastic luggage rings onto the slip in strategic places, so the bungees dont go all the way round the gun. a short rifle might go across the back, but a 12ga is a bit long so strap it down resting the stock on the pillion footrest and the gun upright.
oh and tie up the zip with shoelace or something, the wind blows open the slip!!

I did wonder about the zip.

I use a combination of what has been said I got some great bungees from my local harware shop in the village, they are various lengths but have fully closed carbina style hooks, so less likely to fly off and no sharp bits to take your eye out
