    Bungee Straps and such like

On the odd occasions I need to carry something on the back seat I use a small cargo net but for heavier things it never feels particularity secure.

Bungee straps are never the right length and I always end up with them too lose or so tight I am in danger loosing an eye.

I've seen these Link Straps Link Strap - New To The UK in Costco and they seem to be pretty good but has anyone actually used them on the bike and care to report back?

Ive never used them Boris but what i use (as well as bungees) is a strap much like these.

Pendle Strap Kit | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com

i didnt order these ones but very similar, £6 for 2 and they are superb. Very easy to feed through grab rails etc then just keep pulling until it tightens right up over you tent or whatever your carrying. Very easy to remove too and i only use bungees as a secondary precaution.

Prefer straps, like Craig had delivered to his door

I'll second/third or whatever the above.
I ditched bungees years ago, do a search for 'Arno' or 'cam buckle' straps.
It's best not to go for anything too light as the strap itself ends up all creased & twisted.

Re: Bungee Straps and such like

Would they work to hold a gun bag on across the rack?

Since bungees being too tight around the bag would probably scratch the guns.

(I'm talking about Airsoft guns, I'm not planning a drive by)

Edit: Just remembered I have 2x similar luggage straps I used to hold the kayak on the roof of my old car. Mind you they are about 5 meters long each so could be a bit too long

I dropped in to Ikea this morning for a cheap breakfast and saw some straps that looked like the ones described above

They are 3.5 meters long and the metal buckles have a 400kg rating

Priced at for £4.49 for 2

    IKEA | Transport & assembly | Transport | FRAKTA | Luggage straps

I bought some and they seem to be just what I need, if a bit on the long side but that can be fixed

If just noticed the manufacturers stamp on the buckle FASTY AB The Ikea ones are the 25mm one (But in black without the writing)

their the type I use ,brilliant as long as you remember how you tied stuff on when removed.

grendel- they should be okay , especially with some plumbers pipe insulation around from B & Q to protect the gun. Have you tried ebay for a gun case? or a old army rifle box of the Armstrong road bikes.

Re: Bungee Straps and such like

Thems very like what I use

I managed to pick up a pack of 10 1.5m ones of ebay for about £12

on the occasion that they are a bit short it's easy enough to connect two together.

It can be fun removing them all though

Re: Bungee Straps and such like

Boris they look exactly like the ones i have only i paid a bit more for mine

I think i'll get some of those as Alpslapper nicked two of mine when i gave him the tent on last years TLD

Ian Porter is right, they can be fun removing hehe

p.s. Don't cut them boris, you never know when you need them to be long, epsecially if carrying a tent on the back with a camping chair etc they can be very useful to be long I usually wrap them round the pillion grab handles and the pannier frame then tighten, tent goes nowhere beleive me.
