Hi folks. Has anyone done any riding around Alsace and Vosges regions in France. Think its the Ballon mountain area from the maps but the interweb doesn't seem to find anything

We rode 6through it last summer on the way to Swizerland and though there may be soem good routes around there. It's the hills aroudn Mulhouse and up North to Colmar, then east toward Epinal

Looksing fro accomadation as well if anyone knows of anywhere. Only found La Mounche to date (www.motorhotel.eu)

Have a look here Trip to the Vosges

Some pics from a trip I did a couple of years ago to whet your appetite. Can't help with accommodation other than a couple of campsite recommendations.

Make sure you ride the Route des Cretes and watch out for the cobbled surfaces on some of the bends.

Just PM me with any specific questions.

the Ballon d'alsace is fun & like Jim says "la route des crétes" is a must. there's some superbe riding to had up there, & loads of stuff to visit (if you need an excuse) the motor museum & train museum in mulhouse, colmar, Strasbourg, ribeauvilliers, haut Koenigburg, la montagne des singes ...

Sadly, not for many years but yes, it has some great riding in the region. Inevitably, it gets a tad crowded on the showstopper routes at weekends with some pretty big gatherings of bikes on the top of the Col of several of the routes.

Try BestBikingRoads and see if there any that whet yer whistle!

there was some discussion a few years ago about them actually closing "la route des crétes" to bikes during the summer. I've been looking for info on that but can't find any so they may have dropped that idea.
