Okay, here goes. I've written the route for the swoop east and then north, but haven't divided into chunks yet. All suggestions gratefully received/ignored!
Caudebronde
Carcassonne
St Pons de Thomières
Bédarieux
Lodève
Alzon
L'Esperou
Corniche des Cévennes
Anduze
Alès
Is that 200-250 miles?

Another chunk:
Alès
Bagnols sur Cèze
Pont st Esprit
Bollène
Vaison la Romaine
Malaucène
Mont Ventoux (no snow this time, surely?)
Sault
Sisteron
Gap

Amboise
Château-Renault
Montoire sur le Loir (I love the way the French created the name "Loir". It's a short stretch of river that branches off, you guessed it, the Loire.)
Savigny-sur-Braye
St Calais
Vibraye
la Ferté-Bernard
Mamers
le Mêle sur Sarthe
Sées
Argentan
Falaise
Thury-Harcourt
Aunay sur Odon

and then home...
As I mentioned earlier, I'm happy for other suggestions. It's just a route I picked that takes in a few places I've visited but not ridden plus some I've not visited. I've travelled tens of thousands of miles in France, but don't claim to know all of it by any stretch of the imagination.
So, over to you...

This sounds great-i know some of these bits of france and would be great to go back-definately up for this one-still space available?
Nantua -Bourg en bresse.... one of my fave roads!
closest you're going to get to me is probably Vierzon, 140 ish k.

Well, we don't have to stop at Amboise twice. We could take a different route and stay overnight closer to you. You could come and camp with us, buy us a beer and then not have to ride home. Sound like a plan?
